Pattern Imprinted Concrete

Plain concrete is very much a thing of the past these days, pattern imprinted concrete (P.I.C) is one of the most versatile driveway and patio mediums available today, it comes in numerous colour combinations and colours and can be installed to replicate sandstone, slate, Yorkshire stone, European fan and cobbled effects, please view some of the sample photographs. P.I.C is supplied as a sp330 mix of concrete, it is over-sanded and contains two additives, these additives are fibre-mesh reinforcing and aer entrainer, the polypropylene fibres are not biodegradable and as such do not rot like traditional steel reinforcing, this ensure a quality and long lasting installation, the aer entrainer fills the whole slab of concrete with an infinitive number of microscopic air bubbles, this allows the concrete to weather our frosty winters without suffering frost damage. We have over 30 years experience in installing P.I.C and have carried out both commercial and domestic installations regionally to include filling stations and domestic driveways and patios. Whatever your taste, we have colours and pattern to suit your choice.

Block Paving

f you are considering block paving as medium look no further, we only install quality cementitious products from the like of Marshalls, Brook Concrete Durapave, Stonemarket and MKM natural stone. All our installations include the provision of a weed free underground terrain, this stops the ingress of weeds and nuisance plants from underneath the installation, other companies charge up to £350.00 for this product, we include it as part of the installation!

STEP 1 The first step for our installers is to establish the area to be paved. They will then excavate the existing surfacing(using a hydraulic breaker if concrete), making sure that the finished level of the new paved area will be at least 150 mm below the damp proof course. All spoil is skipped and removed from site. The excavated area is in filled with the sub-base material called type 1. During this preparation stage it is important for us to establish the correct levels for even drainage purposes, slopes and drainage are then incorporated into the installation. If the area slopes towards the property then drainage channels, gullies or land drains will be necessary. These will be installed at this stage along with any recessed manhole covers that may be supplied.

STEP 2 All edgings are installed by setting firmly in concrete to the correct levels and haunched, edgings can be kerb edgings, pre-cast edging, or blocks themselves. The blocks can be laid with the short side against the edge as a soldier course or long ways against the edge depending on your personal preference. The sub-base material called type 1 is then laid and compacted firmly with a whacker plate to ensure there are no voids. We then spread the sharp sand to a depth of 50 mm, consolidating it with a whacker plate. A further 15 mm of sharp sand is then spread over the area as a loose screed and levelled by drawing a rigid piece of timber across it called a tamp. This becomes the bedding surface for your blocks. The blocks are then laid by hand generally starting in a corner, and normally at the bottom if there is a slope. To ensure even colour distribution we only use blocks from the same batch number. Blocks are cut and in filled to the edging or soldier course to ensure even distribution.

STEP 3: Once the blocks are laid, we clean the area thoroughly and inspect for damaged blocks. If we find any we replace them. The paved area is then compacted two or three times with the vibrating whacker plate. We then sweep kiln dried silica joint filling sand over the whole paved area, ensuring even distribution into all the joints between the blocks.

Garage Doors

Once considered a luxury, automated garage doors, are now much more common place in fact they are the norm rather than the exception. We know that people who have their garage door automated would never think of going back to struggling with that heavy structure in all types of weather.

So, why not Automate your existing Garage Door and stop getting wet in the rain, or fighting with it in the wind. Take the effort away from this tedious task at the touch of a button. Most types of Garage door can be successfully automated (some Canopy types excluded).

Brickwork repointing and brickwork pointing are a big part of building services and care. It is something that is practically unavoidable because somewhere along the line a brick building, or brick structure of any kind, will need brickwork repairs. Damage to brickwork happens over time no matter what and damage caused by weather or other natural occurrences will affect the brickwork as well. Many have made the mistake of trying to correct the damage and try their hand at brickwork repairs but they end up having to call in major construction services to fix everything.

Why bother taking on such a strenuous task like brick repair when you could just call upon our building services to do the brickwork repairs for you? Brick wall repair is just as tough to do as pointing and repointing brickwork so, don’t think just because you only have minor repairs that you can do it all on your own. You do not want to risk turning a simple problem with an easy solution into a big problem that takes a lot to repair. Construction services are great but we are brickwork repairs experts and we know all about fixing all kinds of problems including damage caused by weather, time and other similar instances requiring repair.

Those who are homeowners that need brickwork repairs will be happy to know that we are readily skilled in residential brickwork including interior and exterior. For example, a brickwork fireplace may need fixing up from time to time. A quick tune up with some brickwork repointing would make it look like the day it was installed and with our experience standing behind our work, we are quite sure we will provide just what you want and what you need! Other residential brick structures will need brick wall repair at some point in time but, as long as you use our brickwork repairs and building services, everything will be fine.

Brick Walls

Here are 5 suggestions to using art on your garden walls:

1. Get your favourite image reproduced onto outdoor canvas and hang on the back of the house, the garden shed or the boundary fence;

2. Install mirrors or reflective metal art to brighten dark areas of the garden and give an illusion of space;

3. Buy some metal garden trellis and fix it onto the walls creating a strong geometric pattern. Train your plants to climb your trellis structure. It is also possible to buy trellis that has been designed with a contemporary style and often look very effective even without plants;

4. Create some outdoor shelves and display items such as glass bottles, tea light candles, found wood or pot plants; and

5 Build a living picture with a vertical garden. Ensure the edges of your vertical garden are distinct from planting beds to create a sharp living wall art piece. A living wall can be made using wall planters such as Woolly Pockets or securing air plants onto the fence (air plants do not require soil and are very sculptural).
