Bar Restaurant & Take Away

Bar - Restaurant - Take Away & Delivery Service
Open Every Night 5.00Pm - 12.00Pm

►Iqbal's Balti Raj prides itself on taking modern Indian cooking to a new level.

►That's why all our spices are roasted and ground in our kitchen and our stocks are prepared daily, with four variations rather than the normal one-stock pot of most Indian restaurants.

►It's why our menu remains true to classic seasonal recipes but also why we might occasionally give winter a lift by putting on a summer dish.

►And it's why the contrasting flavours of our regional dishes have been complemented by an exciting new wine list, created by Caspar Auchterlonie from vineyards across the globe.

►Great taste is what Iqbal's Balti Raj is all about.

► And that goes for our surroundings as our friendly environment.

More Information...

Discussing the meals with the friendly staff, we were told there will be different meals on different nights so people won''t have the same thing each time they come. They also have fish and seafood options on Sundays - and we are already looking forward to trying that. They still do meals from the normal extensive menu on buffet nights and they also cater for the takeaway market with free local delivery on orders of more than £10. We really enjoyed our first taste of an authentic Indian display buffet and high recommend it to anyone who wants to try different tastes without having to order a full main course. This way you can try lots of little portions of different dishes and see if you like them - a great way to eat out!

Culinary line-up of the hot favourites
Top curry chefs from across Britain battled it out in Harrogate (2000) for the national crown. Eight finalists showed off their skills at the town''s International Centre, preparing taste bud-tickling dishes like chicken balti and stuffed capsicums, green peppers with chick peas in a tomato sauce. But despite the region''s reputation for its curry the Northern region''s only representative in the prestigious contest was Iqbal Uddin, from Massala Cafe in Middlesbrough. The National Curry Chef of the Year competition rewards culinary excellence and impeccable standards of hygiene. Contestants had one hour to prepare a curry dish, side dish and bread or rice, with points awarded for taste, texture, aroma and appearance. There were additional marks for culinary skills, originality, presentation and level of hygiene awareness. The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health event, which began in Bradford in 1992, was part of an environmental health congress. Judges included David Stratham, director of food enforcement and standards at the Food Standards Agency.

Touch of spice is answer - top chef

Delicious starters, such as onion bhaji, kebab rolls, king prawn puri or samosas, get you off to a great start in experiencing that real taste of the sub-continent.
Says Iqbal: "Indian dishes are not necessarily hot - they can be mild, medium hot and extremely hot. We prepare dishes to meet your needs."

Dishes are listed in each of a dozen different categories, all offering a different taste of the east, ranging from tandoori dishes, marinated ingredients cooked in a clay oven, to mild korma dishes cooked with coconut in a creamy sauce.
